Shay Mitchell is Canadian actress,model and entrepreneur. Most well-known is her portraying Emily Fields in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars. She took acting classes in Toronto after achieving great results in modeling and dance. Mitchell landed a few commercials and guest roles on a variety of television shows. Her breakthrough came when she was filmed as Emily Fields. The critics and the fans alike applauded her talents. She then made her mark on the world of film with movies as DreamlandMother's Dayand The Posession of Hannah Grace. Her name gained more attention for her performance in the psychological drama series You. Alongside acting, she wrote. Along with Michaela Blaney she wrote the adult-oriented book Bliss. The parents of Shay Mitchell, Mark Mitchell (born April 10, 1988) as well as Precious Garcia, brought her up on the streets of Ontario Canada. Her father is Scottish-Irish and she has Irish heritage. Mitchell is also a cousin to Lea Salonga, a famed musical theater actress and singer. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary School before moving into West Vancouver Secondary. As a teenager, she was already working as models for various companies across several countries. She travelled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong before returning home to Toronto where she began studying acting.
