In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the category of child prodigies. However, for a child of Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family members, they had innate talents. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita L. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and held shares of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen excelled at sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. Furthermore she was gifted acting. She was the recipient of nearly every Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama proved this. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 She then continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
